Just the fourth head football coach based in Jefferson in the last 40 years begins his tenure tonight. First time head coach Mitch Moore and the Greene County Rams host the Knights of Kuemper Catholic at Linduska Field in Jefferson in a season opening non-district game for both teams. The Knights were 9-2 last season and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Class 2A playoffs while the Rams were 1-8.

Coach Moore was asked what it’s like to finally have the date of the first game arrive. “Unbelievable. I don’t know if I’ve had six-months like this in my coaching career! I know it’s much anticipated from our communities, from the kids, my family, and coaching staff. We’re just really, really excited, and these kids deserve to have a big crowd like we’re going to have tonight. They’ve put a lot of work in, certainly in the weight room, certainly on the practice field, but they’ve put a lot of work into the other aspects of life as well, so we’re really proud of the kids and are very excited for them!”

The freshmen teams play at 4:45 p.m. with the varsity game set for 7:30 p.m. Coverage on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starts at 6:30 p.m.
