Latino Fest

The City of Perry is ready to be immersed in Hispanic culture, as the annual Latino Festival will be held tomorrow.

The event is being hosted by Hispanics United for Perry, and organizer Rosa Gonzalez says it’s something they’ve been working on for some time. “To organize something like this, it takes time. We have been organizing this probably since March. But it’s going well, we have people that are really willing to work with us and to help us to find the entertainment that we’re going to have. I hope that everything goes well. I trust the people that are helping. And it’s people around the community, they are just all so passionate about sharing their culture and things that they enjoy.”

The festivities will commence at 10 a.m. with the parade down Willis Avenue, followed by a welcoming ceremony. After that, 2nd Street will be an epicenter of Latino music, dance, food, and vendors until 8 p.m. They will also crown the “Queen of the Festival.” Though the focus of the event is Hispanic culture, Gonzalez said there’s something everybody can enjoy, so long as they like to have a good time.
