Dallas Co Supervisors

The Dallas County emergency crews are helping each other out, as the Sheriff’s office is selling a vehicle to the emergency medical services department.

At the recent Supervisors meeting, the Board discussed a vehicle purchase proposal for the EMS department. EMS Director of Operations Mike Thomason said they wanted to purchase a 2012 Chevy pickup truck to use as a first response vehicle that can attend to scenes when the ambulance can’t. Additionally, it will be used to transfer dead bodies to Des Moines for autopsies.

Thomason said they had discussed purchasing Sheriff Chad Leonard’s truck, which has 92,000 miles but already has lights and a radio installed. They agreed on a price of $12,100, and brought it before the Supervisors. The Board approved the vehicle purchase, and at this week’s meeting will discuss a Sheriff’s office vehicle purchase to replace Leonard’s vehicle.
