At a special meeting Friday evening, the Perry School Board approved a contract with Larson Engineering for the Dewey Field renovation project.
With the contract signed, it’s now in the hands of the school attorney for review before final approval. Mike Murphy represented Larson and outlined their plans for the construction of the facility. They will have a master plan in place in September, and hope to start the bid process in January with construction starting in April. If all goes according to plan, the new football complex will be ready for use at the beginning of the next school year.
The project got off the ground thanks to a $350,000 matching funds donation from the family of the late Pete VanKirk. VanKirk was a frequent supporter of the Perry School District, as well as a big football fan. His family felt helping kickstart the renovations to Dewey Field would be a fitting tribute to his legacy.
