Labor Day weekend is almost here, which means this is the last week that the Mahanay Bell Tower will be open for daily visits.

The bell tower in Jefferson is open from 10am to 4pm everyday this week, but after this weekend, it will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays in September. The 51-year-old structure has seen quite a few changes in the last couple of years. The four-octave carillon was installed earlier this year, making the ultimate goal of the Bell Tower Community Foundation a reality. Plus, there is a new penny press inside the tower, where patrons can choose from different designs to get pressed onto a penny, like the bell tower or the Greene County courthouse.

Adult admission to the tower is $3 and Beta Tau Delta is sponsoring free admissions for anyone under the age of 18.
