Greene County head volleyball coach Donna Carhill has just two letter winners returning from the 2016 team that went 11-25. Senior Megan Durbin and Samantha Hardaway are both outside hitters who lettered, but other than that, there is little in the way of varsity experience.

The Rams open the season on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Lake City at the South Central Calhoun tournament, which is later than most teams begin the 2017 season. The coach that later starting date has given her team more practice time. “When we looked at the schedule and saw we didn’t start until September, the “pro” of that is that we’ve had multiple weeks of practice. We focused on skill development so we can see where we need to put our players. We have had a couple of scrimmages that helped to solidify those position opinions.”

The Rams have just three home dates this season with the first date in the middle school gym in Jefferson being Thursday, Sept. 14.
