IMG_1150The Guthrie County Fair Queen coronation returned to the grandstand at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds last night. Seven young women were finalists for the honor, but Chelsea Larsen was selected as the 2018 Guthrie County Fair Queen. Her reign will begin January 1st.

Larsen, a junior at Adair Casey-Guthrie Center High School and Guthrie Center resident, won five awards at this year’s Fair Horse Show, including Master Showmanship and Reserve Grand Champion- Mare of Show. Larsen also plays on the ACGC Volleyball team and her favorite fair food is a corn dog.

Competition Coordinator Christina Wilson advocated for the coronation ceremony to return to the Fair. “At the very top of my list was bringing the Fair Queen coronation back home to the county fair where I felt it belonged.”

Along with the crown, sash, and title, Larsen wins a $300 Scholarship from the Guthrie County Fair Board and a $75 Jordan Creek Mall gift card. Larsen will compete at the 2018 State Fair Queen competition. Samantha Sloss of Guthrie Center was the first runner-up and Hope Arganbright of Panora was the second runner-up.
