Brock Wolfe is quickly becoming one of the biggest aerial threats in the state of Iowa. He is already in the top five in total receiving yards and added 56 rushing yards to his name Friday night. But that wasn’t enough to get the win as the Wildcats fell to the Saydel Eagles 33-21.
The Wildcats were hampered by Junior quarterback Carson Wadle’s four interceptions. Wadle only completed twelve passes, but averaged over 18 yards per completion. In addition to Wolfe’s 92 yards, Senior William Larsen notched 87 receiving yards. But ultimately, Wolfe recorded all three touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air. In fact, Wolfe was the only player to score, as he kicked all three extra points.
The Wildcats will have to emphasize taking care of the ball before their District opener at home against Eagle Grove. The Eagles are 2-0 on the season and will bring a balanced attack to Stuart this Friday. Their ground game in week one is similar to ACGC’s Kingery and Brinks. Senior’s Evan Anderson and Nikolas Padilla pounded 180 yards combined against Southeast Valley. Padilla led the team to a win in week two by hauling in 103 receiving yards and a touchdown on just three receptions.
West Central Valley should find some hope in the Eagles defense, which has allowed both a 100 yard receiver and a 100 yard rusher in a game this season. Wolfe could have another solid performance as week three approaches. Kickoff is set for 7pm in Stuart.
