The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
A large portion of the meeting was devoted to the Emergency Medical Services department. EMS Director Mike Thomason presented to the Board that he would like to move their dispatch to a single location. At the moment, they dispatch through the Perry Police Department and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. He explained this creates some communications issues where it’s difficult to allocate resources quickly. The Supervisors approved moving to a sole dispatch provider through the Sheriff’s office, which will take effect in the coming months.
The Board also approved for the EMS department a software agreement for a mobile CAD system, and a subscription and business agreement with Pulsara. They tabled a decision on a cardiac monitor purchase so Thomason can research other vendors. Other action items approved included: the abatement of mobile home taxes; a wetland mitigation credit purchase; a virtual environment host hardware purchase; setting the date for public hearings related to two different trail easements; the courthouse landscape plan; and the settlement of an insurance claim.
Additionally, they held a public hearing regarding the janitorial services contracts. No one spoke during the hearing, so the Supervisors approved the contracts with Reliable Maintenance and Genesis Development. They also received a proposal from Northland Securities regarding the funding options for the law enforcement center. The Board will consider the proposal and seek additional information from other lenders.
