Labor Day brings an unofficial end to summer and severe summer storms are on the way out, but Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency wants everyone to be prepared. Adair and Guthrie County EMA is participating in National Preparedness Month, an effort to encourage people to plan for emergency situations.
Coordinator Bob Kempf urges county residents to not just have a plan at home. “September is a good time to remind everybody to review their plan. Everybody should have some type of emergency plan at home, at work, or at school. It’s important to have it everywhere.”
Kempf stresses the importance of communication and sheltering in emergency situations. He also reminds everyone to check their kit and replace anything that has been removed or is in low supply.
Kempf and his team will be visiting schools next week to encourage emergency preparedness at a young age. Visit the Adair and Guthrie County EMA Facebook page for more information.
