As the Greene County High School cross country teams compete in their lone home meet tomorrow, traffic in and out of Spring Lake Park will be affected.
Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers says traffic will be restricted during the meet from 4:30 to 7pm at the park’s main entrance, due to the course crossing the main driveway. He adds that people can still travel inside the park and fans can also arrive before the race to support their child or favorite team.
“There were 900 runners last year and the school parked over 400 cars. We’re used to big crowds at Spring Lake, but this was a little bit different. There’s a lot of spectators and room for them. So this is just a great event to come out and be a part of.”
Towers notes that by having that many people at the park, it also gives them extra exposure.
“Last year we had all kinds of people that have never really been to Spring Lake. From here in the community and outside some of the other schools commented on that they didn’t know Spring Lake existed, what a beautiful park it was and they would think about coming back and camping.”
Towers wants to ensure all student-athletes are safe while on the various trails during the cross country meet tomorrow.
