Sven Peterson

Many people in Dallas County were eagerly looking forward to tomorrow, when Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson was set to ride a bull.

However, due to a recent injury, Peterson had to bow out of the event for the time being. “It literally pains me to say this, but I had a little rodeo-related incident over the weekend and ended up with a few broken ribs. So the doctor said it would probably be the best idea to postpone the ride. It’s looking like probably doing it at the Dallas County Fair rodeo next June. So it gives us even more time to get the word out, get some pledges in, and give me some time to heal, retrain, and get back on the proverbial saddle as they would say.”

Peterson was going to ride the bull as a fundraiser for the “Let’s Connect” project, which seeks to bridge the nine miles between the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Perry and the High Trestle Trail in Woodward. Though Peterson is disappointed the fundraiser needed to be pushed back, it’s likely the project will still need lots of funds come June. He’s hoping the extra time will bring even more money than they had expected.
