Hundreds of runners and hundreds more fans were at Spring Lake State Park northwest of Grand Junction on a beautiful Thursday for the Greene County cross-country invitational.

Panorama won the girls’ Class A team title with 39 points with Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center next at 45. West Marshall (State Center) had 70 points, followed by Ogden 131, Southeast Valley (Cowrie) 138, Roland-Story (Story City) 155, South Hamilton (Jewell) 156, West Central Valley 182.

Kate Crawford of AC/GC won the girls’ Class A race in 19:16 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Emma Swanson of AC/GC was second in 20:01. Panorama had the next two finishers with Ella Waddle third and Devyn Kemble fourth. Lauren Embleton of AC/GC was sixth, and Panorama’s Brianna Hoffman was tenth.

The boys’ A team champion was R-S with 50 points, just two points ahead of SH at 52. Ogden had 86, followed by AC/GC with 106, Des Moines Christian 143, Panorama 167, IKM-Manning 188, WM 191, SEV 217, and 218 for WCV.

Evan Wilson of Extra-EHK won the boys’ Class A event in 16:46, nine seconds ahead of AC/GC’s Noah Nelsen.

The AA girls’ team title went to Denison-Schleswig at 24 points with 61 by second place Creston. Winterset had 64 with 84 by Algona, 157 from Greene County, Nevada 181, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) 198, Boone 214, and Perry 261.

Reagan Anderson of D-S won the AA girls’ race in 19:50. Bailey Cunningham led Greene County by finishing fifteenth. Madison Davis was 45th to lead Perry.

The Nevada boys won the AA team title with 43 points, followed by Kuemper Catholic 81, Algona 83, Winterset 93, Boone 99, D-S 141, Perry 178, Creston 213, Greene County 229.

Malachi Hornbuckle of Nevada was the AA individual winner in 16:48. Zach Thompson of Perry was twentieth, while Nick Killion led Greene County with a 35th place finish.
