The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
County Engineer Josh Sebern addressed the Board on two projects converting bridges to culverts. The first, at the intersection of Hickory Avenue and Grove Trail east of N54, has an estimated cost of $237,000. The project will be funded through Tax Increment Financing. The second, south of N63 on Maple Avenue, is estimated at $228,000 and will be funded locally. Bids for both projects will be opened at the September 26th Supervisors’ meeting.
The Board then approved resolutions to extend financial support to the Diamondhead Rural Improvement Zone and transferring funds from the Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management. The approval will allow the County Clerk of Court’s office to move the transfer of those funds earlier in the month.
Finally, the Board reviewed two bids for the retaining wall project at the County Transfer Station. Board member Clifford Carney abstained from a vote on one of bids due to a conflict of interest. With the absence of Supervisors Tom Rutledge and Everett Grasty, there were not enough members present to award the contract and the decision was tabled once again. They will award the contract at next week’s meeting and also discuss landfill management, buildings, and grounds.
