The Perry City Council met Tuesday evening in regular session.

During the City Administrator’s report, Matt Farrier from Bolton and Menk talked about the current status of the soccer complex project. While contractors Spring Lake Construction had said they were going to hire J&M Landscaping to finish the project, there’s been some contract issues that have delayed their involvement. Farrier is hopeful J&M will be able to start before the end of September in order to meet the City’s wishes.

In old business, the Council approved a resolution rejecting all bids they had received for the 2017 slip-lining project. The lowest bid was nearly $20,000 over the engineer’s estimate, so Bolton and Menk recommended not accepting any. Farrier said they will likely rebid the project in December or January in hopes of getting more competitive bids. The Council then approved awarding a bid to Municipal Pipe Tool Company for the 2017 sanitary sewer repair project.

In new business, the Council approved several resolutions, including: authorizing the sale of unused and outdated city vehicles and equipment; a notice and intent to dispose of unclaimed vehicles in the City’s impound; setting the 2017 open burning dates as October 28th through November 19th, as well as the procedures; writing off bad City utility debt in the amount of $21,275; and a Bock grant application for the police department to purchase a digital patch and system upgrade for their E911 board. Finally, the Council approved the second and third readings for an ordinance amending franchise fees for Alliant Energy.
