Hurricanes Harvey and Irma may have passed, but the devastation they left behind is still prevalent in Texas and Florida. The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America chapter are doing what they can to aid the victims.
The chapter conducted their first of two fundraisers for Houston high school students affected by the hurricane. Yesterday the chapter hosted a “cell phone day” where students could pay $3 to use their cell phone for an entire school day. The second fundraiser will auction off a team signed volleyball and football during homecoming week.
The project is in conjunction with educator blog Sun Sand and Second Grade’s Adopt a Classroom Program. The program matches schools and organizations around the country with Houston classrooms in need. ACGC was matched up with a 9th grade English class. The chapter plans to donate notebooks, snacks, hygiene products, and other school supplies.Additionally, the chapter will donate ACGC Charger swag and personal notes of encouragement.
