Honeybees, honey, and beekeeping are the focus of an upcoming event at the Adel Public Library.

On Tuesday, September 26th at 6:30 p.m., the library is welcoming the 2017 Iowa Honey Queen, Carly Raye Vannoy. She will discuss all things honey, and the superorganism that helps create it. Things Vannoy will talk about include how bees make mummies, the strange use of beehives in medieval Europe, the color of mystery honey, and more. She’ll also discuss why people want to save bees and how we in Iowa can help make that happen.

There is no cost or pre-registration required for the event, and it’s appropriate for all ages. To learn more about this and other events at the Adel Public Library, go to AdelPL.org.
