The new Greene County FFA year kicked off late last month with a back-to-school family night in Jefferson, which 23 families attended. Several FFA’ers participated in the Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) over the summer to prepare for the upcoming year. FFA’ers were also busy with eight individuals taking exhibits to the Iowa State Fair and four placed fourth in the district livestock judging contest at the Cass County Fair. In addition, a group placed second in the livestock judging contest at the Guthrie County Fair over the Labor Day weekend.
This year’s President Gwen Black is also the Southwest District FFA Treasurer. The other officers of the local chapter are Vice-President Ben Bravard, Secretary Kara Reed, Emily Finch as treasurer, Abbie Sparks as reporter, Sentinel is CJ Muir and Emma Larson is the officer at-large.
The next community event for Greene County FFA is at the Deal’s Orchard Fall Festival, where they will have a petting zoo.
