A pair of Panorama girls cross country runners set a new course record at Thursday’s Panorama Invitational. Freshman Ella Waddle and senior Devyn Kemble produced top-five performances and bested Panorama’s old course record of 22:12 established by Brianna Hoffman last year. Waddle broke the previous mark by nearly 2 minutes, placing second overall at 20:13. Kemble finished in fourth place with a time of 21:22. Three other Panther runners crossed the finish line in the top 15 Thursday including freshmen Gwen Steffen (10th; 23:31) and Olivia Steffen (12th; 23:38), and senior Brianna Hoffman (15th; 23:44). The Panthers won the girls’ team title with 43 points.
The Panorama boys cross country team battled seven ranked Class 1A squads in Thursday’s meet, coming away with a ninth-place finish with a score of 210. Senior Josh Carstens was the first Panther to cross the finish line, clocking the 10th best time at 18:30. Senior Danny Nordquist recorded a race time of 18:46, the meet’s 18th best result. Rounding out Panorama’s top finishers are sophomore Levi Richey (56th; 20:16),senior Kaleb Randel (61st; 20:30), and senior Sam Webster (65th; 20:39).
The Panorama cross country teams return to competition Thursday, running in the Audubon cross country meet.
