Victory eluded the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football team (1-5 overall; 0-4 Class 3A District 7) in the final minute Friday night. The Tigers played host to the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs (4-2 overall; 3-1 Class 3A District 7) for a district showdown. Trailing 13-7 with under 30 seconds left Denison-Schleswig’s Drew Polzin found the end zone on a one-yard run. A successful extra point attempt by Erik Jaime helped the Monarchs overtake the Tigers, 14-13.

Senior Matthew West accounted for 219 yards of total offense, including a career-best 90 yards rushing. West scored both ADM touchdowns, a 21-yard pass to Gavin O’Steen in the second-quarter and a three-yard run in the third quarter. Mistakes hindered the Tigers in the setback, committing four turnovers and nine penalties for 100 yards.

The loss drops ADM’s record to 1-5 overall and 0-4 inside Class 3A District 7. The Tigers resume their season in Atlantic next week in a district matchup versus Trojans (3-3 overall; 1-3 Class 3A District 7).
