Playing the third undefeated team in four weeks proved to be too much for Greene County as Boone rolled to a 52-7 Class 3A District 2 football victory on Friday night in Jefferson. The Toreadors, ranked eighth, improved to 3-0 in the district and 6-0 overall while the Rams fell to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in district games. The contest was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

It was the Rams’ Homecoming game, but the Toreadors made themselves feel at home by holding a 19-0 first quarter lead and a 35-7 halftime advantage. Boone needed just 22 seconds of playing time in the third quarter to up the margin to 35 points, meaning the rest of the game was played with the 35-point margin continuous clock.

Boone had 530 yards of offense (394 passing, 136 rushing) and was led by senior quarterback Mason Hulse. He threw for five touchdowns and ran for another. The passing touchdowns covered 94, 49, 9, 34, and 76 yards, as Hulse completed 13 of 20 attempts. He has now thrown for 19 touchdowns on the season while being intercepted just once. John Immerman caught four of the passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns.

The Rams had just 118 yards of total offense including minus one yard rushing on 22 attempts. Junior Clint Dennhardt and sophomore Brent Riley were a combined 19 of 37 passing for 119 yards. Dennhardt had a touchdown pass to sophomore Carter Morton on fourth down and six for the only Greene County touchdown following a 79 yard kickoff return by Morton.

Both teams were penalized 11 times.

Greene County travels to Gilbert for an Oct. 6 date with the Tigers, who are also 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the district. The game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
