Main Street Guthrie Center and the Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce are preparing for their Fall-O-Ween festival later this month. However, that’s not the only exciting development coming downtown. The organizations are looking forward to a few more events to close out 2017 and a big 2018.
The Chamber will be sponsoring trick-or-treating at downtown businesses on Halloween from 5-6pm. The two organizations are also planning the particulars for downtown business involvement in Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday is the Saturday following Thanksgiving and encourages community members to shop locally during the holiday season. MSGC Program Director Dana Buster is looking for volunteers to help with these and many other future events. “We’d love to find some new people, with new ideas of things that they want to see happening downtown. We have big plans for next year, so we’d love to see our volunteer base grow this year.”
In late August, MSGC also purchased the Williams Building downtown. MSGC plans to remodel the two available street level retail spaces and are looking for prospective business owners to fill the spaces.
