Greene County lost its Homecoming football game to Boone on Friday night by a 52-7 final. The Rams are 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in Class 3A District 2, while the eighth rated Toreadors stayed unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the district. The game was broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Rams were out gained 530 yards to 118. Rushing the ball was especially tough with -1 yard on 22 rushing attempts. Greene County had 119 passing yards. The biggest plays of the night for the Rams came on kickoff returns by two sophomores. Carter Morton’s 79 yard return set up the lone Greene County touchdowns, and Xavier Hayes added a 56 yard return. Morton caught a six-yard pass on fourth and goal for the only touchdown for the home team. It was Clint Dennhardt’s third TD pass this season and the fifth for the team.
Boone had 530 yards of offense, led by senior quarterback Mason Hulse, who was 13-20-0 through the air for 394 yards and five touchdowns. He also added a 46 yard rushing touchdown.
The Rams last three games are against teams with records closer to their own after the first six games were against teams that have compiled a combined 27-10 mark. Next up for Coach Mitch Moore’s team is a trip to Gilbert (1-5, 1-3) on Oct. 6. That game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
