This week is recognized as National 4-H Week and Greene County 4-H has a lot of ways to celebrate.

Greene County Extension 4-H Coordinator Kayla Hyett says they are continuing their tradition of the 4-H clubs painting different business storefront windows, and the club who has the best window will win a free pizza party. Hyett says participating businesses this year include: Prairie Lakes AEA office, Addie’s and New Hope Village, all in Jefferson.

Another contest encourages 4-H’ers to wear their 4-H t-shirts and post a picture on social media. Hyett is hoping more 4-H’ers post pictures to social media using the hashtag: #GC4HGrowsLeaders.

“Social media is definitely is kind of the new thing. So we would like everybody to share, post, tweet, anything to promote National 4-H Week.”

The final contest is referring a new member to 4-H. Hyett says if any current 4-H’er refers a new individual to 4-H, that 4-H’er will also get their name in a drawing for a prize.

4-H’ers will also be collecting gently used or new books and boardgames to donate to New Opportunities of Greene County. The books and boardgames drive will last the entire month of October.
