At the Dallas County Supervisors meeting tomorrow, they will spend a great deal of time discussing various aspects of the new law enforcement center. This indicates the county is getting closer to the build-phase, according to Sheriff Chad Leonard.
He says they get calls daily asking why they haven’t broken ground on the facility yet, but assures people that event is imminent. The county recently received bids for the dirt work, and will review them at tomorrow’s meeting. Leonard says they requested potential bidders to have the dirt work completed by December 1st. He adds, “I think once they award it (the bid), you’ll see a lot of movement out there on the piece of property, and they’ll at least get it leveled. It didn’t appear to me that there’s going to be a lot of dirt work needed, so hopefully they’re able to save a lot of money with this project.”
Leonard has been heavily involved with the design aspect for the facility, particularly on the inside. He says it’s been a very time-consuming process but knows it will all be worth it when the new center opens in the spring of 2019. He adds, they’re moving quicker than they originally expected, which is good because the quicker the project is finished the more money the county will save.
