In an effort to connect Jefferson’s six city parks and three school buildings with a trail system, a second public meeting will be held tomorrow.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says Iowa State University Landscape Architecture and Community and Regional Planning student Zoey Mauck will lead the discussion Tuesday at the Greene County Community Center from 3 to 4pm. Mauck held an initial meeting in September. Lautner says the meetings are open to everyone.

“We would like to have input as far as what residents feel like they want. I was very impressed with her at the last meeting with some of the ideas that she came up with, and some of the routes that she picked that maybe on wider streets with less traffic, that maybe we could have a safe place that maybe kids could go from the north end of town to the south end of town and to the swimming pool safely.”

Lautner says there will be one more public meeting in November and Mauck will present her final plans in December.
