The Greene County cross-country teams go to the South Central Calhoun Invitational later today at Lake City’s Golf Course. It’s a co-ed meet with middle school and high school races, and the action begins at 4:30 p.m. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Rams last ran on Thursday of last week at the Leon Fox Invitational at Perry. The coach saw improvement from individuals as well as from the girls and boys teams. Today’s meet is the final tune up for Greene County before the Monday, Oct. 9 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet hosted by South Hamilton (Jewell).

Five Greene County girls swim for the Boone Toreadors and they are in action tonight. Coach Chris Mann’s team is in the home pool hosting Carroll and Storm Lake beginning at 6 p.m. The Toreadors have 2-1/2 weeks before their Regional meet, which determines State qualifiers. Right now, Boone is on the outside looking in, but there is still time to crack the top 24 and qualify for State. Greene County students Megan Doran and Haley Hall are on Boone’s 200 freestyle relay that ranks 31st, the 200 medley relay that ranks 32nd, and the 400 free relay that ranks 33rd.
