At tonight’s Perry versus Winterset volleyball game, the Jayettes will be sporting a color other than blue.
It’s the annual “Dig for a Cure” awareness night to support the American Cancer Society, and to honor it, the team will be decked out in pink jerseys. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the American Cancer Society says one out of every eight women in the United States will get some form of invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. Fundraisers such as “Dig for a Cure” have become a great way to raise both awareness and funds for the disease.
Fundraisers for the event include: the Perry School District’s staff paying $5 to participate in “Jeans Day”; “Dig for a Cure” t-shirts sold at Graphics2U; and a free-will donation bucket at the game. The game will start at 7 p.m., and the community is encouraged to attend in their finest pink attire to cheer on the Jayettes and help in the fight against cancer.
