acgcWhile the ACGC volleyball team hasn’t recorded the best results in conference matches this season, their recent performance in tournaments should give the Charger faithful some hope. The Lady Chargers continued their dominance in regular season tournaments, defending their title at the CAM Invitational last Saturday.

ACGC started off the tournament defeating Panorama for the second time this season, winning 21-14 and 21-19. Genevieve Hoover placed five aces in the victory. Then the Lady Chargers took on Paton-Churdan. They needed three sets to get past the Lady Rockets, advancing to the semi-finals with a score of 21-11, 19-21, and 21-7.

The Lady Chargers squared off against hosts CAM in the semifinals, crushing the Lady Cougars 25-12, 25-9. Madylin Smith dominated the match with three kills, seven assists, six digs, three blocks, and four aces. MaKayla Hoing added five kills, seven digs, and an ace. After defeating the Lady Cougars, ACGC got another season rematch with Riverside in the Championship, defeating them in straight sets 25-20, 25-23. Hoing pounded a tournament high eleven kills against the Lady Bulldogs, giving the Lady Chargers a sixth consecutive CAM Invitational win.

Hoing and Smith were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Lady Chargers have three regular season matches left, and will host a triangular tomorrow against Coon Rapids-Bayard and possible regional opponent Madrid. ACGC ends the regular season Thursday, hosting Exira-EHK.
