Cole Arnburg smashed West Central Valley’s single game receiving yards and touchdown records this season against Ogden. Arnburg had a much different night against Van Meter last Friday. Arnburg didn’t record a single catch as Van Meter blew by the Wildcats 52-0.
The Wildcats were limited to just 136 yards of total offense. Brock Wolfe caught just two catches for 27 yards and had two yards rushing. On a positive note for the Wildcats, senior William Larsen had his best game since week three against Eagle Grove. Larsen nabbed nine catches for 76 yards. Carson Wadle couldn’t get much going against Van Meter’s defense, as he completed just 12 passes for 108 yards.
Van Meter’s district leading rusher Carson Rhodes dominated the game. Rhodes toted the ball 24 times for 236 yards and two touchdowns, averaging almost a first down with every carry. Sophomores Hunter Coyle and Ian Abrahamson also added two touchdowns on a combined ten carries for 105 yards. Senior quarterback Blake Fryar delivered an impeccable game as well. Fryar went 9-14 through the air for 132 yards and two touchdowns, throwing one for 78 yards to junior JJ Richards and another to senior Sam Thompson for 21 yards. Fryar also rushed for a 43 yard touchdown. Overall, six different Bulldogs found the end zone.
The Wildcats contend with the second place South Hamilton Hawks on Friday for homecoming. Van Meter will take their four game shutout streak back home to face Panora.
