The 2017 West Central Activities Conference Championship Meet took place at the Panorama Par 3 Golf Course yesterday. The ACGC girls finished in second overall, while the boys finished third.
Kate Crawford and Panorama’s Ella Waddle have jostled for the top two places in the Conference all season long. Crawford has won that battle each of the previous races. However, this time, Waddle used the home course advantage to come out on top and Crawford finished second for the first time this season. Crawford came across the line in 20 minutes and nine seconds, nearly 30 seconds behind Waddle. The next five runners alternated between Panorama and ACGC, with Emma Swanson placing fourth, and Lauryn Embleton finishing in sixth. Every runner finished in the top 30. The girls totaled 46 points, 19 behind Panorama.
The boys race was much closer. Noah Nelsen and Clay Billheimer finished third and fourth respectively with times of 17:28 and 17:51. Every Charger runner finished in the top 35. Madrid’s Sean McDermott won the Meet with a time of 17 minutes and five seconds. The team finished with 71 points, just five points behind winners Woodward-Granger and two points behind second place Madrid.
The State Qualifying Meet is next Thursday, also at the Panorama Par 3.
