The final road football contest of the season for the Panorama Panthers (3-4 overall) pits the squad against one of the best teams in Class 1A. The Panthers will visit Dallas County tonight to face the leader in Class 1A District 6 standings, the undefeated Van Meter Bulldogs (7-0 overall). Radio Iowa ranks Van Meter as their third rated team in Class 1A. The Bulldogs handed the Panthers one of their two losses last season, winning 47-0 in Panora.

The Panthers have encountered a late-season slump, scoring a total of 36 points in their last three setbacks to South Hamilton, Eagle Grove, and Manson-NW Webster. Panorama was held scoreless until the fourth quarter of last week’s 28-7 loss at Manson NW-Webster. Quarterback Luke South is 42 passing yards shy of one thousand for this season, scoring eight total touchdowns (five passing).

Van Meter has been close to perfect since squeaking out a one-point win versus Earlham in their season opener. The Bulldogs have allowed nine total points during the last six weeks, shutting out their previous four opponents. Offensively, Van Meter is averaging 42 points per game and have outscored their opponents, 187-0 over the last month. Week eight of the high school football season takes Panorama to Van Meter tonight with varsity kickoff at 7 p.m.
