Early October rainfall has caused numerous delays with construction projects in Greene County, one of which is a major bridge replacement on Highway 30.
Iowa Department of Transportation Resident Construction Engineer Jenny Hoskins tells Raccoon Valley that completion of the overpass bridge project near Grand Junction has been delayed due to the recent rainfall. As previously reported last month, the bridge project was slated to be completed by the end of October. Hoskins says with the delay, the earliest completion date is the first full week in November.

Hoskins notes the contractor, Godbersen-Smith, is hoping to pour the 44-foot wide bridge deck next week. The final parts of the project will then include attaching the approaches, shoulder work and installing the barrier and guard rails of the bridge. Hoskins points out that crews also replaced the bridge culvert over West Beaver Creek and that has been completed for about one and a half months.
The overpass bridge has been closed since April and the total cost of the project is about $7 million.
