The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball season ended last night for the Greene County Rams. Coach Donna Carhill’s team fell in straight sets to South Hamilton in Jewell by scores of 15-25, 10-25, 14-25. Greene County finished the conference season with a 2-5 record and they are 6-23 overall. The Hawks went 3-4 in the league and are 21-10 overall.

One of the big differences in the match was the number of kills in the three sets. The Rams had just nine for the evening and were led by senior Megan Durbin with four. SH had 36 kills for an average of 12 per set.

The Rams were led in digs by senior Chantel Flack with 11 and she went six for six serving. Senior Samantha Hardaway was seven for seven serving and she had the only ace serve the Rams could muster. The Hawks had 13 ace serves. Freshman Aubrey Heupel was the Greene County assists leader with eight.

Coach Carhill noted her team adjusted to their quick offense after the first set and the Rams started to dig more of their attacks. She added her team wasn’t able to match the Hawks point for point offensively.

Greene County goes to the Winterset Tournament tomorrow.
