This week is National Fire Prevention Week. While the Stuart Fire Department is extremely pleased with the efforts West Central Valley Schools have made to improve on their fire safety standards, they are also displeased with a recent fire engine.
The Department’s 2013 fire engine is currently undergoing some electrical glitches. These glitches are affecting the overall safety of fire personnel, as the engine hasn’t properly pumped water on a few occasions during incidents. The fire truck is currently in Des Moines for replacement parts. If that doesn’t solve the problem, the Department will have to make repairs that could consume an entire year’s budget. The engine will be in Des Moines for at least another week.
The City of Stuart is working with the Department to find an adequate solution as soon as possible.
