About 50 people attended a recognition and town hall meeting with US Senator Charles Grassley at Midland Power Cooperative in Jefferson Monday.

Grassley covered several topics including sentencing reform that he’s working on the committee level as chair of the senate judiciary committee, health care and tax reform, regulations on fossil fuel usage with the Environmental Protection Agency, the North Korean situation and the farm bill. Following the town hall portion, Grassley was recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce with the Spirit of Enterprise Award. It is given to a Congressional member based on their voting percentage on critical business legislation with having a lifetime positive vote of 85-percent.

The visit in Greene County was Grassley’s 98th county and the 99th was later in the day in Boone County. For 37-years, Grassley has visited every county in Iowa each year on his 99-county tour.
