Soon winter weather will roll into Guthrie County. But the Iowa Professional Golf Association is still thinking about the greens. The IPGA announced this year’s Junior Tour Players of the Year, and a Panora youth made the list.

Kolby Shackelford is the 2017 Boys 14-15 division Player of the Year. This is the third time Shackelford has been selected, as he was the 12-13 winner in 2015 and the 11 & Under winner in 2013. Shackelford placed first this year in five of fifteen events, including the 42nd Iowa Junior PGA Championship this past July. He also claimed victory at the Jester Park Junior Amateur, Junior Tour Mid-Summer Classic, Des Moines Junior, and Junior Tour Metro Classic tournaments.

The awards selection is contingent on a points system based on tournament performance. Award winners are required to be Iowa Junior Tour members. All recipients were honored last week at the All Star Pro Golf Awards Luncheon at the Riverside Casino and Golf Course.
