The improbable playoff run for the Woodward-Granger Lady Hawks volleyball team (25-14) ended in the regional championship match. The Lady Hawks traveled to Atlantic Tuesday for the Class 2A Region 3 final against the No. 4 Council Bluffs St. Albert Falcons (27-3). The Lady Hawks lost in straight sets to the Falcons (11-25, 17-25, 23-25).

The Lady Hawks dropped one game this playoff season prior to last night’s loss. Their postseason run began October 17 with a three-set victory over Ogden in Woodward (25-15, 25-18, 25-12). Woodward-Granger recorded the bracket’s top upset on October 23 in Neola, beating No. 8 Tri-Center (27-3) in four games (21-25, 25-23, 29-27, 27-25). The semifinal round saw the Lady Hawks top Fort Dodge St. Edmond in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) at Boone High School on October 26.

Woodward-Granger ends the season with a 25-14 record. The Lady Hawks lose eight seniors to graduation including Mae Anderson, Katelyn Bandstra, Alyssa Bice, Ashley Gales, Marissa Pasker, Julie Pitman, and Katelyn Sharlau.p
