Theresa Greenfield

Several Perry residents gathered at El Buen Gusto Thursday night to meet Theresa Greenfield, a democratic candidate running for US Congress in Iowa’s third district.

Greenfield is seeking to gain the democratic nomination for next year’s general election, and is seeking to unseat current republican representative David Young. At the meet and greet, she talked about her background as a farmer’s child as well as a current small business owner. That background motivated Greenfield to seek public office, because she felt she was a good representation of the people living in the third district, which includes both the rural and urban parts of Dallas and Polk counties. She then asked attendees what their current concerns are with the government, and gave them her thoughts on how she’d like to deal with them in Washington.

Greenfield is the second of seven democrats seeking the nomination to visit Perry ahead of the primary this spring. The Perry Area Democrats group organized the meet and greet.
