Greene County High School senior Megan Durbin, one of Iowa’s top female high jumpers, will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Iowa State University. The early signing period for Letters of Intent is Nov. 8-15 and Durbin told Raccoon Valley Radio she’s going to be a Cyclone.

Durbin has finished second, first, and second, in the last three Class 3A State Meets, and was the Drake Relays runner-up in 2017 after winning the Drake Relays title in 2016. Durbin has won the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference high jump title in each of her first three years of high school.

She won’t be the tallest of high jumpers in the Big 12 Conference at somewhere between 5′ 8″ and 5′ 9″, but her career best leap of 5′ 8″ would have placed in the top eight at both the 2017 Big 12 indoor and outdoor conference meets.

Durbin added she’s getting some athletic scholarship money and some academic scholarship money to attend ISU. She also plans on applying for various other scholarships. NCAA Division I athletic programs are allowed to offer partial scholarships for all sports other than football and basketball.
