The Minburn Volunteer Fire Department is ready to put some new detection equipment into service this month, and they would like to thank the local donors that helped make it happen.
The Dallas County Foundation donated money to the department, which was used to purchase several pieces of equipment that will improve the safety of the public and the firefighters. The equipment does several things, including: monitoring carbon monoxide levels in structures after a fire has been extinguished to know when it’s safe to work without a breathing apparatus; confirming carbon monoxide leaks in homes and businesses in the event of an alarm; and detecting propane and other flammable gas leaks in structures.
In addition to the money from the Dallas County Foundation and local donors that allowed them to purchase the detection equipment, the Minburn Fire Department was also recently awarded a grant from the Bock Family Foundation. The department received $2,000, which will go towards the purchase of a handheld radio that’s compliant with the new Dallas County Dispatch 700 megahertz radio system.
