DSCN7449Today voters will decide on who they want to represent them in mayoral and city council elections.

Polls will be open in several communities in Greene County from noon to 8pm. There are three candidates running for three at-large seats on the Jefferson City Council including: incumbents Harry Ahrenholtz, Larry Teeples and newcomer Matt Gordon. There is one person running to fill a vacancy on the council in ward two with Matt Wetrich. Mayor Craig Berry’s seat isn’t up for election, due to being in the middle of the four-year term.

There are contested races for Scranton and Grand Junction mayor and city council. Paton’s mayor will be decided by a write-in.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, there is one electronic, touch-screen balloting machine at each polling location that are handicapped accessible and can be used by any eligible voter. The polls are open from noon to 8pm.
