guthrie-center_iowaThe Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The Council continued its discussion on improvements to crosswalks and speed limit signs on the east end of town. The City has officially submitted a request to the Iowa Department of Transportation for a speed study. The DOT will conduct the study, which could take up to eight months to complete.

The City is now accepting sealed bids for the property on 207 North 7th Street. Finally, the Council also passed the first reading of two ordinances. The first states that all fences must be properly inserted and enclosed according to city code. The second, much like first, will require residents to obtain a permit to properly install garages and accessory buildings on private property. The Council will conduct the second reading of the ordinances at the next council meeting and encourages the public to voice their opinions. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 27th at 6:30 pm at City Hall.
