The Saturday after Thanksgiving has traditionally become a day to celebrate and support local business ventures, called Small Business Saturday. It stems from the popularity of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Businesses around Guthrie County will offer specials and discounts to encourage patrons to check out their products and services.
Main Street Guthrie Center is also preparing for a large crowd to shop local. There will be plenty of canvas bags and other items to facilitate a productive shopping experience. Director Dana Buster says they are offering a special promotion to spruce up your holiday decor. “We are gifting poinsettias to any shopper who spends $50 on gifts on Small Business Saturday. So if they just bring in their receipts, they are going to get a poinsettia to start off their holiday season.”
MSGC will be setting up shop in Art on State. Stuart and Panora businesses will also be offering similar specials and discounts throughout the day. For more on Small Business Saturday, and other upcoming MSGC and Guthrie Center Chamber events, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
