The ACGC wrestling squad lost state quarterfinalist Logan Scheuermann to graduation last year. With the absence of Scheuermann and Cade Suhr, the Chargers are looking for new leaders to step up. That doesn’t seem to be a problem though, as the Chargers have two ranked wrestlers on the squad. Tuesday’s IA Wrestle rankings have juniors Blaine Beeler and Easton Benson inside the top ten in their classes.
Beeler, a returning state qualifier, is ranked 9th in the state at 120 pounds. Returning district qualifier Easton Benson is ranked 10th at 113 pounds. Last season Beeler was second on the team in wins with 38 and points with 226. Benson was last season’s recipient of the Coaches Award as he was a top-five performer in seven statistical categories.
The Chargers open the season Thursday at the East Union Invitational.
