The 2017-18 high school basketball season gets underway tomorrow night for three of the four varsity teams located in Greene County. The Greene County Rams open the season at non-conference opponent Ogden (0-1) tomorrow night. It’s a JV/varsity girls’ twin bill with the varsity game broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coach Dean Lyons’ Rams lost to the Bulldogs last season, but they’re hoping to turn that around and look to improve on last season’s 4-18 record by relying heavily on seniors.

The Paton-Churdan girls and boys play a non-conference doubleheader in Des Moines Monday night vs. Saydel from the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The P-C girls are coached by Tom Kennedy and are looking for more wins after getting in the win column just twice last season. The boys’ team is coached by Chris Stimson. The Rockets are coming off a winning season. Both Saydel teams struggled a season ago.

The Greene County boys do not play until Friday, Dec. 1 when they host Gilbert as part of a girl/boy doubleheader in the middle school gym in Jefferson.
