A recent graduate of Adel-Desoto-Minburn High School is making the most of her playing time as a true freshman this winter on the Grand View University Women’s Basketball team. Sydney Bertman is eight games into her true freshman season with the Vikings Women’s Basketball squad, averaging 6.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.75 assists, and 1.3 steals per game off the bench.

Bertman put together her most complete collegiate performance to date against Kansas Christian College last Friday. She was the Vikings leading scorer with a career-best 20 points, making nine of her 11 field goal attempts, in a 119-15 victory over KCC. Bertman’s previous best offensive output was an 11 point performance on November 3 against Missouri Baptist. She also recorded a career-best seven steals and tied her season high with seven assists in the victory over the Falcons. The win snaps a four-game losing streak for Grand View University, evening their overall record at 4-4. The Grand View Women’s Basketball team opens Heart of America conference play Wednesday hosting the Culver Stockton Wildcats (4-4) in a league doubleheader. The women’s contest tips off at 5:30 p.m.
