At the most recent West Central Valley School Board meeting, Middle School Principal Anthony Lohse and High School Principal Rusty Shockley presented first quarter grade reports and other testing results. Lohse and Shockley are pleased with the academic progress students have made after the first quarter. However, Board member Jenyse Belden mentioned a growing concern regarding academic performance measures between middle and high school.
West Central Valley Superintendent Dr. David Arnold commented on the transitional difficulties middle school students face when entering high school and key individuals to make the process smoother. “It’s a different environment, but one that should be friendly and usable. I think the work between the high school and middle school staff can really work this to make it really good for the kids.”
Arnold is also extremely proud of the students for collectively lowering the amount of “D”s and “F”s on their academic reports. To hear more from Arnold listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
