A weekend collision involving a Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy and another vehicle resulted in a patrol vehicle being totalled.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, at around 9 p.m. Saturday, a patrol vehicle driven by Deputy Aaron Sanchez was travelling north on County Road P-58 near Minburn Road with his emergency lights and sirens on. The deputy attempted to pass a sport utility vehicle driven by 69-year-old Paul Snyder of Perry, when Snyder attempted to make a left turn onto Minburn Road and a collision occurred. The patrol vehicle entered the west ditch and came to rest in a gravel driveway. The SUV spun around and also came to rest in the west ditch, facing south.
The airbag in the patrol vehicle deployed, and both parties involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts. No injuries were reported. There was heavy damage sustained to the vehicles, and both were declared total losses. The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Minburn Volunteer Fire Department, and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services responded to the wreck. The State Patrol is currently investigating the incident. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it’s made available.
