The 2017-18 high school girls’ basketball team opens tonight for the Greene County Rams by making the short trip east to Ogden to take on the non-conference Bulldogs.

Head Coach Dean Lyons starts his third season at the helm with eight girls who saw varsity action during the 4-18 season of 2016-17. That group features senior Laurin Lyons, the daughter of the head coach, who has been an honorable mention selection in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference  following each of the past two seasons.

Joining Lyons in the starting lineup tonight are expected to be four other seniors in Samantha Hardaway, Ashley Millard, Onica Delp, and Reagan Lamoureux. The latter is the daughter of assistant coach Jeff Lamoureux.

The coach told Raoon Valley Radio he expects to use three sophomores as the first players off the bench in guards Bailey Cunningham, Izzy Bravard, and Kassie Lamoureux, another daughter of the assistant coach.

Ogden downed the Rams to open last season. Coach Ben Van Wyk’s team started the season last week by losing at home to Southeast Valley (Cowrie).

The varsity game tonight can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage is scheduled to begin around 7:10 p.m. with opening tip at approximately 7:30 p.m.
